Over 20 years ago, on August 2^nd, 1999 Mark collected 2hits, #1,999 and his milestone #2,000 off the Expo’s Dustin Hermanson. First came a double off Dustin in 4^th inning when Mark narrowly made it into 2^nd after testing Vlad’s arm from right field. Then in the bottom of the 9^th Mark came to the plate with 2 outs to face Dustin once again. On a 3-1 pitch Mark laced a bullet single to right off a fastball. The crowd went nuts and gave him a several minute standing ovation. Dustin was then lifted for a reliever and he stopped at first base to congratulate Mark on the way back to the dugout.  It was an exciting time at the beautiful Wrigley Field.
