Vienna Porcelain Augarten Spanish Riding School Series 'Trot'.
This rare figurine is one of eight in the Spanish Riding School series from the Vienna Porcelain manufactory Augarten, Austria. It was founded in 1718 and is the second oldest in Europe.
The figure is hand painted and hand gilded. This series was created in 1925 by Professor Albin Dobrich. This is the dressage stance of 'Trot'. The horse is a Lipizzaner, one of the oldest horse breeds in Europe.
The base is impressed with the number 1592 and the Vienna Porcelain logo is clearly marked under the glaze.
There looks like a professional restoration around the chest, neck area (but this only shows on closer inspection) and possibly back left leg. The right tip of the hat has a tiny 'nibble' at the end. Please see photos. None of this takes anything away from this striking figure.
In mint condition this item would be worth over £1000.

Height 23cm, width 23cm.
