The first time I laid my eyes on this Buddy L dump truck was in 1942.

Santa had delivered it on Christmas Eve. I remember my brother and his friends building dirt roads in the back yard of our neighbor’s vineyard. The  Antonelli family made wine but the grapes were what we wanted. We’d wait for the grapes to ripen, then pile them one by one in the dump truck using our hands and mouths as we make dump truck sounds along our homemade highway.  If you grew up with toys like this you’ll understand what I mean.
