“Quartz-2 × 8C-3” is a narrow-film amateur film-making machine for the 2 × 8 Super film, produced by the Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant from 1971 to 1983.
The Quartz-2 × 8C-3 movie camera was developed on the basis of Quartz-4 and Quartz-5 (2 × 8 film), 211,374 copies were released.
Specifications
“Quartz-2 × 8C-3” is charged with standard reels of 7.5 m each (they were also used for 2 × 8 film). After shooting on one half of the film, the bobbins change places, shooting on the other half occurs. In this case, only a few external turns are illuminated. Re-shooting is prevented by the reel design. After laboratory processing, the film with a total width of 16 mm (2 × 8 mm) was cut longitudinally and the film was mounted. The counter of the captured film was reset to zero by the film enthusiast when changing bobbins. The drive of the tape drive is spring-loaded, the filming frequency is 12, 18, 24, and 36 frames / sec, single-frame shooting with the help of the release cable screwed into the release button.
The 2 × 8 Super film was different from the 2 × 8 film by the modified perforation, which allowed to increase the frame size from 4.4 × 3.25 mm to 5.69 × 4.22 mm.

The aperture is set manually or semi-automatically using a selenium photocell located on the front of the camera. When the handle located on the frame of the photocell is rotated, it was diaphragmed and, at the same time, the shooting lens was diaphragmed. Quartz-2 × 8C-3 does not need chemical current sources.
