DESCRIPTION: A volume of essays in memorial of Seeley W. Mudd, discussing many areas of the petroleum industry as it existed in the late 1930s in the United States. Topics include physical and chemical properties of petroleum and its products, exploration by geophysical methods, old-well drilling machinery and practices, oil pipe-line transportation, and more.

CONDITION: Covers exhibit some wear, corners bumped, white mark about 1" across on the bottom of the front cover (see photos), rear cover badly split along the rear hinge. Hinge loose at the front. Spine worn at both ends and somewhat frayed at the top. Text-block has a slight bend along the outside bottom corner, as though it was shelved badly for a long time, but the block is unmarked and perfectly legible. Previous owner's name in ink on IFC ("Ray E Morgan"), price on IFEP, otherwise no marks observed. A reading copy or only.
