Copper engraved map on hand laid paper with later hand colouring.
Thomas Kitchin (1718 - 84) learnt his trade as an engraver with Emanuel Bowen. He set up his own engraving and publishing business in the 1740's at the Star in London's Holbourne, but continued to work with Emanuel Bowen and with Thomas Jefferys. This map was produced for the 'Post Chaise Companion Through England and Wales' published in 1767.
Page size is 23.5cm by 18cm
Map area is in good condition for age, engravings are clear. Some stains. Repair to lower boarder. Hand colouring.
