Collectible magnet from the defunct Northland Center Mall in Southfield, MI. Northland opened in 1954 as a development of the J.L. Hudson department store - although not enclosed until the 1970s, it is often credited as the first modern shopping mall and its initial success spawned three similar developments throughout the Detroit suburbs. Since closing in 2015 it stands abandoned and partially demolished while its fate remains debated.
This magnet features the mall's iconic Boy & Bear sculpture by Marshall M. Fredericks, which now resides in the Southfield Public Library. It is a new-old stock promotional item that would've been given out by management, and came directly from the mall itself. Measures 4" long, 2.5" wide.
Price is for ONE item. Ships free via snail mail, same or next day, anywhere in the United States!
