You need to point it at the center of the forehead (brush away any hair so it's pointing at skin only) and the other key part is that it needs to be about an inch away from the forehead. 'Aim the thermometer probe at the center of the forehead and keep the probe 1.18 inches (3cm) away from the forehead (the optimal distance is about the width of an adult's index finger). Do not touch the forehead with the probe.' If you follow these important guidelines, the consistency will be much better.
