DESCRIPTION: Here is an 18th century Meissen porcelain pedestal table salt. Hand painted to the inside of the bowl in enamel with a yellow breasted bird on a tree branch with green and yellow leaves set in a mountainous landscape. The border painted with three colourful flower sprigs including a pink rose and three insects. The top rim with a gilt dentil pattern. The outside painted with a single flower to each end. The pedestal is shell mouled to front and back with moulded C scrolls to each side with beading to the inside. There is a double gilt line around the base. marked to the base with painted blue crossed swords. I believe this salt is no later than 1763.

SIZE:  The salt measures 6.2 cm high and 9.5 cm at widest point.  Weighs 82 g before packing.

CONDITION:   There is no chips, cracks or restoration. There is some gilt ware to the inside top rim dentil pattern and a little gilt ware to the gilt line around the base. Fairly worn to the beading inside the C scrolls. Otherwise in good condition.
