Unusual 1934 Harley Ad Flier
Rarin' To Go!

On Heavy Grade Paper
Measures 8 1/2" x 11"

I purchased a few of these from a man who told me they came from the estate of a family member who was a Harley dealer through the 1930's and 1940's. I believe him. We have several available, bid is per flier.

Condition is the same for all and the one pictured is a good representation of all.

The only examples of this image/ad I find anywhere are full page magazine ads half this size (6.5" x 9") cut from magazines on glossy thin paper. This one is printed on heavy gauge rigid colored paper that exhibits subtle sun fading around the edges. I would almost classify it as very thin cardboard, about like 1/2 thickness "shirt cardboard".

Note there is no page number in the image corner and back is blank. Examples of this image as a magazine ad all have a page number in lower corner and printing on both sides.

I have included a photo of this flier balanced on a thin box as a pedestal to show paper is not flexible enough to bend under it's own weight. This paper could not possibly have been run through a modern printer to produce reproductions without creasing/cracking.

My evaluation is that this was a dealer handout, or perhaps a proof print of the original 1934 ad with coupon to mail to HD for more info on the bike. I am convinced after research that this was printed in 1934 by a printing press machine and not a modern reproduction.

This would be great framed in a Art Deco period frame.
