United States Air Force
Red Horse Unit 554
Framed
Certificate
"Royal Order of the Horse"
This Certificate is in both Korean and English. It is from 1988, when the Unit of Red Horse was stationed in Korea.
We acquired it from the airman to whom it was awarded. At the time of the award he held the rank of Airman First Class (A1C).
The Certificate is a spoof on prestigious certificates such as those that hang in the offices of doctors or lawyers.
The Red Horse squadrons are the groups that perform the heavy construction work for the Air Force and other branches of the United States Armed Services. They were created during the Vietnam war and continue through today.
Red Horse Unit 554 was one of the two original units created in the 1960s. The recipient of this Certificate was an Airman First Class who worked on Special Purpose Vehicles.
This is an item that rarely comes up for auction. It documents the history of the USAF. Its tongue-in-cheek parody of "elite" organizations in civilian life reflects the strong pride Red Horse members felt for their group.
NOTE: US buyers can opt to have only the certificate mailed, thus cutting the US shipping cost to $2.70. Please contact us PRIOR TO BIDDING if you wish this service. We have not yet attempted to remove the lucite but we will try to do so upon request.
