Having worked with horses all of our lives, running a livery yard, owning a saddlery shop, teaching and of course riding and competing on our own horses we have over 80 years experience and that's what shapes everything we design and manufacture.
Laminitis is one of the most common causes of lameness and needs emergency veterinary treatment. The pain is often underestimated and it’s essential to make the horse or pony comfortable quickly, while they’re being cared for by the vet – and that’s where our relief boot comes in.
We designed this Hoof Boot to relieve the severe pain of laminitis, but its clever cushioning means it’s also ideal for puncture wounds, bruised soles, abscesses and foot sores.
Whilst it doesn't claim to be a cure, it will allow the horse on box rest to be led out or turned out for short periods, helping to relieve the boredom.
It has a thick layer of high-density memory foam, as used in hospitals to help prevent pressure sores. Temperature and pressure sensitive, it moulds to the shape of the hoof, distributing pressure evenly. Plus, unlike normal foam, it’s breathable, antibacterial and anti-fungal.
Like our Poultice Boot our Laminitis Relief Boot is made from hard-wearing, waterproof canvas, shaped to the leg and fastened with Velcro to keep dressings clean, dry and secure.
