We needed a new ambulance door latch for our BJ40 but Toyota discontinued production. The epoxy on ours kept breaking, it looks lousy anyway and we wanted a new part, so we commissioned our own. We paid dearly to have these made and the first one went on our truck (see the pics). We want to share this opportunity with the Cruiser community and worked to get the price down as much as possible.

This is an excellent copy of the original down to the die ejection pin marks - as you can see in a few pics of the old OEM one right next to a new one. Our doors close so smoothly and tight now! We had it cast out of zinc just like the original and it looks shiny and new, because it is! There are also pictures of the one we installed in our BJ40. You get only the door latch that is pictured - all other pictured items are not included. You will want to use the OEM setup of phillips head countersunk screws with matching toothed lock washers.

The purchase price gets you one latch.

It fits normal passenger and driver's doors on FJ and BJ cruiser front doors from 1963 to 12/1974 and the ambulance door from 1/1975 to 10/1984. This might not be the whole list of trucks it fits - If the picture matches, it will fit.

We believe the original Toyota part number is any one of these depending on the model and year. Just be sure to compare your part to the one pictured to be sure. Note that the mating part for the ambulance door (also die cast zinc with rubber surfaces on the ends) is still available from Toyota. By the way, if you have a need to replace broken parts that are no longer available from Toyota, message us. We want to keep these great old cars running. If there is enough interest, we will recreate an old part as close to OEM specs as possible.
