These lovely panels can be used for many uses including table tops (please see the photo of my wine table), cutting boards, trays and plaques.  If you want to use it as a serving tray or cutting board just put a couple of coats of butcher's oil on it.

VINIFERA IMPORTS was founded in 1979 in Chicago.  It imports the best of Italian wines and has a 50,000 square foot temperature-controlled warehouse in their New York facility.  Fontodi Winery imports their wines into the U.S. through VINIFERA IMPORTS.

The Manetti family has owned the Fontodi Winery since 1969.   The vineyard consists of 80 hectares where 90% of the grapes are Sangiovese.  The soil is made of Tuscan shale which encourages the vines to have deep roots.  This panel is from a wine crate from the Vigna del Sorbo vineyard.  PLEASE NOTE this panel was a side panel from that crate and does not have any of the winery or vineyard information!  I personally break these crates down so I know it came from the FONTODI WINERY!

This end panel measures about 12 3/4" X 6 5/8" X almost 3/8" thick.  It reads simply VINIFERA IMPORTS.  All the lettering has been burned into the wood.  The right and left edges are routed where the panels were joined originally as a crate.

Please read each panel's description for condition:

Picture 2352:  This panel is clean with only a few scratches and dings. There are some rough edges.  One of the routed teeth along the right edge was created in a knot hole so part of the tooth is missing.  Most people trim these edges.

It is not a perfect science breaking down crates into panels.  The wood itself is not perfect and has natural imperfections such as knot holes. In many cases these crate panels have traveled 1000s of miles to the USA.   I try my best to note anything of importance in the detailed description of each panel.

I know you will love adding these rare panels to your collection!  EnJOY!
