Freeman McFarlin 19” Lg Lion Statue Hollywood Regency 811 California Kay Finch

This is a vintage Mid-Century Hollywood Regency ceramic reclining lion sculpture, originally designed by renowned California artisan Kay Finch and produced by Freeman McFarlin Potteries.

Key Details & Origins

• Design & Collaboration: Kay Finch (1903–1993) was famous for her expressive animal figurines crafted in her Orange County, California studio. When her studio molds were later acquired, Freeman McFarlin reissued her popular lion mold under design model #811.

• Material & Finish: The sculpture is made of California earthenware pottery. While many were finished in a bright gilded gold leaf paint, this version features a more naturalistic, hand-painted brown and amber matte glaze that highlights the intricate textures of the mane and tail.

• Dimensions: These substantial statement pieces measure roughly 19 to 20 inches in length, 12 inches in height, and 10 inches in depth.

Condition: There is obvious damage to the nose, mane, tail, and paws. He could use some restoration and pain to repair his worn areas but makes a beautiful statement piece!
