Morvern Callar (2002), Fun City Editions / Vinegar Syndrome Limited Edition Blu-ray

Directed by Lynne Ramsay. Starring Samantha Morton, Kathleen McDermott, Paul Popplewell, Dolly Wells, Bryan Dick and James Wilson.

Morvern Callar (Samantha Morton) wakes up on Christmas morning to discover that her boyfriend has died by suicide, leaving behind a cryptic message and an unpublished manuscript. Rather than report his death, Morvern puts her own name on his novel and submits it to publishers. Using his bank card, she takes a spontaneous trip to Spain with her friend Lana, embarking on an unpredictable journey of self-discovery, escape and reinvention.

Based on the novel by Alan Warner, Lynne Ramsay's acclaimed second feature is a hypnotic and unconventional character study featuring an atmospheric soundtrack incorporating music from Can, The Velvet Underground, Aphex Twin and Stereolab.
