Vintage Door Harp Chime Musical Wood Hand Carved Squirrel Signed 1987 Made USA

This item is a door harp (also known as a door chime or zither door harp).

What it is and how it works:

• Design: It is a small, stringed wooden instrument carved or painted with a decorative motif—in this case, an engraved squirrel.

• Function: It is typically hung on the inside of an entrance door. When the door opens or closes, small wooden or glass balls attached to strings swing and strike the strings, producing a gentle, chime-like melody to greet guests.

• Tuning: The strings can be tuned with a tuning wrench to a specific chord or pleasant musical interval.
