Vintage Wicker Fishing Creel / Trout Basket – Leather Strap & Wooden Toggle

Traditional vintage wicker fishing creel, believed to date from the early to mid-20th century.

An attractive old angler's basket with a rounded rectangular shape, woven wicker construction, hinged lid and traditional wooden toggle fastening.

Features an old leather carrying strap with a previous taped repair, adding to its well-used vintage character.

Approximate measurements:

• Length: 13 inches

• Height: 8.5 inches

• Depth: 5 inches

Condition:

Good overall vintage condition for its age, with general wear, discolouration and some loose or broken wicker strands consistent with previous use.

The interior is in good condition, the lid opens and closes, and the wooden toggle fastening is present.

The leather carrying strap has an old taped repair, clearly shown in the photographs. Its strength for carrying weight has not been tested.

Unrestored and retaining its original character.

A lovely traditional fishing accessory, equally suitable for display in a country cottage, fishing lodge or rustic interior.
