Beautiful antique ring believed to date to the Victorian era, featuring a luminous creamy white pearl nestled within an elaborate gold floral setting. Intricately engraved leaves, scrolling details, and openwork shoulders create a wonderfully dimensional, asymmetrical design.
The pearl displays fascinating natural growth irregularities and a beautifully organic, sculptural appearance. Its unusual character seems thoughtfully complemented by the elaborate, asymmetrical setting, suggesting the pearl may have been selected specifically for its distinctive appearance. Given the era, it is quite possible this is a natural pearl but will need further testing to identify conclusively.
The ring is believed to retain its original Victorian decorative setting with a later replacement shank. The metal has been acid tested and holds at least 10K gold acid in the areas tested.
