Synopsis

The American Civil War has ended, and the Northern states have defeated the South. Former gunslinger California, travelling under the alias Michael Random, is trying to start a new life. Young Willy, however, dreams of returning to his parents’ farm in Georgia and persuades Random to accompany him.

Their journey becomes a dangerous adventure in which Willy is shot and Random seeks refuge at the family farm, hoping for a fresh start with Willy’s beautiful sister Helen.

Meanwhile, ruthless bounty hunter Whitaker makes a living capturing wanted Confederate soldiers. When his successes attract too much attention, he becomes a target himself and takes Helen hostage in an attempt to escape the army.
