Delve into the world of Edgar Degas' artistic mastery with this exquisite bronze sculpture, titled "The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer." The sculpture serves as an homage to Marie Van Goethem, the young dancer who posed as the model. Born in 1865, Marie was a student at the école de Danse in Paris, and by 1880, she was already a dancer at the Opéra. Degas' meticulous observation of his model is evident not only in the sculpture itself but also in the numerous charcoal and pastel sketches he created, as well as a preparatory nude sculptural study of the figure.

"The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer" captures the essence of Marie's youth and grace with remarkable realism. Degas' dedication to capturing the minutiae of his subject's form and expression is evident in every curve and detail of this three-dimensional masterpiece. The title itself, given by Degas when he exhibited the original mixed-media sculpture at the sixth Impressionist exhibition in 1881, serves as a testament to the work's historical significance and authenticity.

Crafted using the time-honored lost-wax casting method, this sculpture pays tribute to Degas' artistic legacy while providing enthusiasts and art lovers with an opportunity to own a tangible piece of his genius. Whether displayed in an art collection, gallery, or personal space, "The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer" stands as a testament to the timeless beauty of Degas' artistry and the enduring charm of Marie Van Goethem's presence.
