DISTINCTIVE FEATHERED GLASS IN RICH AUBERGINE & AMBER

Presenting a signed and dated 1981 studio art glass bowl by Australian glass artist Julio Santos, featuring a striking feathered design in deep aubergine-brown and warm amber, encased within clear glass.

The bowl has a low, gently curved profile framed by a pronounced dark rim. Within the transparent glass, the coloured strands have been drawn into a symmetrical, stylised floral motif, radiating from the centre in flowing lines. The varying depth and direction of the feathering create a wonderful sense of movement, while the interplay of dark aubergine, warm amber and clear glass gives the design depth and definition.

Julio Santos was an accomplished glassblower whose work is represented in significant Australian public collections, including the National Gallery of Victoria and Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art. This signed example captures the distinctive decorative character of his work in the early 1980s.
