Vintage 1950s/1960s De Vecchi Milano Italian Silverplated Salad Serving Set - Barocco Pattern
Up for sale is a beautifully crafted, heavy-gauge vintage salad serving spoon and matching fork/spork set. This stunning vintage duo was manufactured in Milan, Italy during the mid-century era by the luxury silversmith studio Argenteria De Vecchi (founded 1935).
The reverse handles feature the authentic De Vecchi manufacturer hallmark: a crown over a shield emblem containing a running hound silhouette over the country stamp "ITALY."
Design, Pattern & Features:
• The Barocco Pattern: This set features the highly sought-after traditional Italian Barocco (Flowered Baroque / Rococo Revival) design. The handles showcase a high-relief, deeply embossed sculpted motif of blooming hibiscus/poppy flowers, sweeping scrolled tendrils, and a distinctive fan shell crest at the throat.
• Vermeil Accent: The interior of the large serving spoon features its original, authentic gold-wash (vermeil) lining designed to protect the silver plating from acidic dressings and vinegars.
Condition Report:
Excellent, crisp vintage condition. The silver plating is exceptionally robust with thick coverage and no base-metal bleed-through. The handles exhibit beautiful factory oxidation within the deep crevices, giving the floral motifs excellent artistic contrast and depth. The gold wash in the spoon remains beautifully warm with only minor ambient surface scuffs from light historic use. No bends, deep gouges, or repairs.
