Barney and Ally Hartman first came up with the name, Mountain Dew, as a joke in 1932. It was an old 19th century name for moonshine.  In the early 40's, the brothers started making this lithiated lemon drink to be mixed with hard liquor.

John Brochette made the first drawings of a character called Willy the Hillbilly in 1946. Later, the Tip Corporation was now bottling Mountain Dew. In 1964, Pepsi bought the Tip Corporation with the rights to bottle Mountain Dew.

This is a really rare Mountain Dew piece.  It is a gallon sized Mountain Dew Syrup bottle.  This syrup was used to mix with carbonated water at the soda fountains.  On the bottom of the label, it states Pepsi Bottling of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

This bottle is empty, as shown.  The condition of the paper label graphics is good, all around the bottle.   It has minimal wear.  The bottle has no chips or cracks.  The cap looks good, and you can still read, "Shake Well"as shown.

Shipping for this bottle will be only $11.00 anywhere in the U.S. for 2-4 day mail.

This bottle was made by Owens-Corning Glass Works, and is dated 1965, on the bottom.
