Vintage Salmon Percussion Jestick 1, a Canadian-made hand percussion instrument combining a clave-style handle, guiro ridges, and metal jingles. This piece is marked “Jestick 1” on one side and “Salmon Percussion Pat. Pend.” on the other, suggesting an early patent-pending version.
The instrument has a long wood body with a darker handle, raised ridged section for scraping, and metal jingle discs mounted between the wood rails. A great piece for a percussion collector, experimental musician, studio prop, or display with other vintage music gear.
Please note condition carefully: this is being sold as a vintage collectible/as-found instrument. One side is missing some of the metal jingles/discs. The remaining metal jingles have rust, oxidation, spotting, and surface wear. The wood shows scratches, finish wear, darkened areas, small chips/nicks, and general age-related wear. I did not attempt to remove the rust or polish the metal.
CONDITION: FAIR (Poor-->Fair-->Good-->Very Good-->Excellent-->Mint): Fair vintage condition. Instrument has visible rust/oxidation on the metal jingles, scratches and wear to the wood, and missing jingles/discs on one side. Markings are still visible. Sold as a collectible or restoration/display piece rather than a fully complete performance instrument.
I aim to please, and describe every item to the best of my ability. But please note that my vintage items often received frequent use back in their day, so may show visible signs of wear and age. Personally, I wouldn't have it any other way, as I treasure those marks of the past.
