Kreuz Apotheke Receipt PLZ Slogan Cancel
OVERVIEW
This is an original 1976 transatlantic commercial airmail cover sent from Zurich to Bronxville New York documenting mid 1970s international pharmaceutical supply.
This rare closed loop archival group consists of the original airmail envelope and the internal pharmacy invoice from Kreuz Apotheke.
Most significantly, the reverse of the envelope contains detailed recipient calculations that precisely reconcile the Swiss Franc amounts shown on the enclosed Kreuz Apotheke invoice with the corresponding US Dollar payment, creating an unusual documentary chain linking the postal container, commercial transaction, and recipient accounting record into a single surviving archive.
FRANKING & POSTAL HISTORY
The franking consists of two Helvetia regional architecture definitive stamps from the 1973 Architectural Heritage series totaling 110 Rappen.
The stamps include an 80 Rappen green regional timber frame house positively identified as Scott 588 and Michel 1022 and a 30 Rappen brown rural alpine chalet identified as Scott 582 and Michel 1017.
Both are printed by the rotogravure method on white wove paper.
As these are postally used on cover the state of original gum is not applicable.
The 110 Rappen total is consistent with mid 1970s Switzerland to United States airmail letter rates.
The stamps are tied by a Zurich machine slogan cancel dated 4 November 1976.
The circular datestamp is accompanied by a wavy line and a rectangular slogan box reading Absender Jedesmal auch Ihre eigene Postleitzahl promoting the four digit PLZ zip code system.
CONTEXT & COLLECTOR APPEAL
This cover survives with its original pharmaceutical invoice creating a complete commercial archive rather than an isolated postal artifact.
The enclosed Kreuz Apotheke documentation records an international order for Roche manufactured Becozym Forte vitamins.
The recipient handwritten calculations on the reverse of the envelope perfectly reconcile the Swiss Franc and US Dollar values recorded on the invoice.
This direct documentary linkage provides unusual provenance and transforms the cover into a verifiable record of 1970s international pharmaceutical commerce currency conversion and transatlantic mail service between Switzerland and the United States.
It documents economic and medical interactions in a single package offering a high transparency archival group for collectors of medical commerce postal history.
