I’m a bit surprised this listing is still unsold.
Robert Bloch was the master in the psychological horror genre. Upon his death the the door to the classical psychological horror authors closed, but continued by such authors as Stephen King.
Robert Bloch wrote the book “Psycho” upon which Alfred Hitchcock, recognizing the genius of Robert Bloch, made the book into the world-famous horror film “Psycho” - the most famous psychological horror film ever made in this genre. Hitchcock’s name is synonymous with this film made years ago. Mention the film “Psycho” and Hitchcock’s name is immediately thought of. Sadly, Robert Bloch’s name is in the shadows when the film is mentioned.
Robert Bloch did not write the screenplay for the film but he did follow up his famous horror book with two other sequel books, “Psycho 2” and “Psycho House.” A signed first edition of “Psycho” is valued at thousands of dollars in fine condition with a fine dust jacket.
The book offered here combines all three of his horror novels in one book. This combined edition of Robert Bloch’s three “Psycho” novels is uncommon seen signed or inscribed by Robert Bloch the reason being book was released shortly before his illness and passing. Book signing became very laborious for him due to the serious nature of his illness even though he did not publicize his condition until near the end.
This book is nicely inscribed on the title page to Katie Crawford-Miller (manager at the Phantom Bookshop in 1993) by Robert Bloch : “Warm fond wishes to Katie! Robert Bloch.”
Robert Bloch’s last book signing was at Phantom Bookshop in Ventura, California. This inscribed book would be an “association copy”. I’ll provide a brief history of the event to be included with the book regarding this for future reference.
The dust jacket is enclosed by removable Mylar protector.
First edition, first printing of the first combined edition of the three “Psycho” books by Robert Bloch.
