1910-30 CRAZY QUILT TOP Antique Vintage - WORN for CUTTER or RESTORATION!
This is a charming 1910-1930's crazy quilt top ready for restoration
I purchased this top during 2002 from a seller living in Seattle: USA….it measures 58” x 58”.
There are 9 x hand pieced & embroidered crazy quilt blocks each measuring 19” x 19”….these have then been sewn together by hand.
The maker used plain white muslin for the foundation of her blocks and then used colourful floss to embellish all her blocks.
I see the letter 'M' or perhaps 'W'.....was this the maker's first initial?
I don't believe this top was ever finished into a quilt and is in fair condition for age….the seams and fabrics are strong on the whole: the main issue is the shattering of some of the silks which is common for the time.....see photos.
There is minimal staining and I didn’t note any significant odours.
You could restore the fractured silks and finish this into a bed quilt or alternatively make doll quilts or cushion covers......perhaps just hang this to display on the back of the couch, end of the bed or over the stair rail.
