This is a vintage Italian Majolica centerpiece or fruit bowl with faces at either end.
I can’t be certain, but I would estimate it dates sometime from the 1950s or so. Please use your judgment.
The piece measures 6 3/4 inches tall at the handles (17.1 cm). It is 13 1/2 inches wide in one direction and 8 5/8 inches in the other (34.3 cm, 21.9 cm).
The shape and painting on this are just beautiful. You can tell it was made by a very talented artist. I particularly like the faces at the two ends.
Though it is not marked Italy, it is definitely the classic Italian look you see.
Unfortunately, the piece has a number of tiny nicks and dings to the glazed surface. There are a few noticeable ones at the top, and a number of tiny ones spread all about. The bottom has quite a few also. There is a chip at the bottom, though most of it is underneath. Still, you can see a piece of that when it is sitting.
If you can overlook the damage, you will love this piece!
It weighs a little under 4 lbs. 4 oz. (1.918 kg).
