Original 1970s Brian Chandler Cartoon Art – Vintage Commercial Motor Magazine

An authentic, one-of-a-kind original hand-drawn cartoon by renowned mid-century British commercial illustrator Brian Chandler. Chandler was the celebrated resident cartoonist for Commercial Motor magazine for over 20 years, as well as a frequent contributor to the National Farmers’ Union (NFU).

Features two transport workers standing in front of a heavily battered, severely buckled tipper lorry at a "Commercials Ltd" yard. The handwritten pencil caption at the bottom reads: "It needs straightening up a bit—it's done a bit of heavy quarry-work."

A genuine piece of publishing history featuring original production annotations, including a stapled archival top tag ("CM EE7"), a publication target date (November 25, Page 22), and print layout sizing indicators ("22 ems" and "110%").

Hand-drawn in pen, ink, and mechanical cross-hatching on artist card stock measuring 6.75 inches by 5.25 inches. Signed "CHANDLER" in ink by the artist. Excellent vintage condition with crisp lines and authentic age toning on the borders.
