Pair of Antique Japanese Meiji Period Octagonal Imari Chargers / Plates (c. 1880-1900)

Up for sale is a beautiful, highly decorative pair of genuine antique Japanese porcelain octagonal chargers (plates). Dating to the late Meiji period (circa 1880–1900), these pieces feature the iconic and vibrant "Kinrande" Imari palette of underglaze cobalt blue, rich iron-red enamel, and hand-painted gold gilt highlights.

Unmarked as is typical for high-quality export wares of this era from the Arita kilns, these chargers feature a stunning octagonal form which is far scarcer and more desirable than standard round plates.

Design & Motifs:

Central Medallion: Hand-painted in underglaze blue featuring the traditional "Sho Chiku Bai" (The Three Friends of Winter) motif, depicting Pine (Matsu), Bamboo (Take), and Plum Blossom (Ume)—symbolising resilience, longevity, and good fortune.

Outer Borders: Exquisitely detailed trailing Chrysanthemums (the imperial flower of Japan) with lush green-enameled foliage and delicate gold-gilt vine detailing.
