For your consideration is an original January 2016 princely mourning acknowledgment card signed by Erich Frst von Waldburg zu Zeil und Trauchburg (born 1962), issued from Schloss Zeil, Leutkirch im Allgu, following the death of his father, Georg Frst von Waldburg zu Zeil und Trauchburg (19282015). Printed on substantial cream stock within a formal black mourning border and impressed at the head with the finely blind-embossed armorial achievement of the princely House of Waldburg-Zeil, the card measures approximately 4.5 by 6.75 inches and bears Erichs large autograph in blue ink beneath the printed text. It survives together with its original mailing envelope, addressed by the Frstlich Waldburg-Zeilsche Hauptverwaltung at Schloss Zeil to royal historian Arturo E. Beche in Richmond, California, and postmarked by Deutsche Post on 15 February 2016, furnishing direct recipient provenance and secure contemporary dating.

This may be translated: Through the overwhelming sympathy, the many comforting words and prayers, we have felt especially sustained during these days. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all those who felt united with us and who expressed their sympathy in so many ways. Heartfelt thanks for the magnificent wreaths and floral arrangements. The printed text is a formal family acknowledgment of condolences; Erichs manuscript signature personalizes the example sent to Beche.

The card commemorates the death of Georg Frst von Waldburg zu Zeil und Trauchburg, longtime head of one of Germanys historic mediatized princely houses, who died at Schloss Zeil on 2 December 2015. His only son Erich succeeded him as head of the House of Waldburg-Zeil, giving this acknowledgment additional dynastic significance: it was issued during the first weeks of Erichs tenure as Frst and records the immediate transition from one generation of the family to the next. The House of Waldburg, rooted in medieval Swabia and long associated with hereditary imperial offices, belongs among the historically prominent former sovereign and mediatized houses of southern Germany.

The card remains in very good original condition, with its black border, embossed heraldry, printed typography, and blue autograph strongly preserved; the original envelope shows ordinary postal handling consistent with genuine transmission. The retention of the envelope is particularly important, independently connecting Schloss Zeil, the princely household, Erichs autograph, the 2015 family bereavement, and Arturo E. Beche as recipient. A refined and archivally complete example of modern German princely correspondence, combining mourning symbolism, heraldic embossing, dynastic succession, a personally signed acknowledgment, and intact postal provenance.
