This elaborate dimensional carving depicts the natural world with tropical orchids, rainforest vegetation, colorful birds and a stylized human face. The reverse is hand-inscribed with the artist’s name and references to Boruca, Arte Indígena, Cosmovisión and Naturaleza.


Lourdes Rojas Frasser is a recognized Boruca artist and master carver from Costa Rica who has worked to preserve and promote Boruca cultural traditions through carving, painting, education and community tourism.
