What this is

A Thomson FNYBU32OPN FluoroNyliner bushing bearing for 2" round shafting, open (slotted) type. This is a plain linear bearing, not a ball bushing -- there are no recirculating balls. The bore is a self-lubricating FluoroNyliner liner that slides directly on the shaft, which is what lets it run in places a ball bushing will not survive.

What that means in practice

The numbers that matter here are the load rating and the temperature. 12,500 lbf static in a 3" envelope is far beyond what a ball bushing of the same bore will take, because the load spreads across the whole bearing surface instead of through a few balls in point contact. That large contact area is also why this style holds up under shock and vibration that would brinell a ball bushing.

Because the liner is self-lubricating, it needs no grease and tolerates unhardened and corrosion-resistant shafting -- including 300-series stainless -- so it is a common choice for washdown, submerged, food-processing, and chemical-exposure positions where a greased ball bushing would fail or contaminate. The 500 °F ceiling covers oven and dryer conveyor work. The tradeoffs are friction and speed: a plain bearing has more of the first and less of the second than a recirculating ball bushing, so it suits slow to moderate traverse rather than high-speed reciprocating duty.

The open slot means this one is for supported shafting, running on a rail block. It will not work on an end-supported round shaft -- that application takes the closed FNYBU32.
