This is a fully restored Olympic TD-20 8-track player/deck.  I record 8-tracks for bands and record labels, so I learned to work on players to keep mine running.  I fix players for people sparingly as well, although the majority of my time is spent making tapes.

I replaced the belt, performed all the normal lubrication on the motor, capstan, and track change mechanism.  I replaced all electrolytic capacitors with new audio grade caps. I also replaced the ceramic and mylar caps in the audio circuit with polystyrene caps.

I adjusted the volume pots on the circuit board and printed out a sticker label to put next to them so you know where you can adjust those if need be.  The foam pad on the backside of the track change button was disintegrated, so I replaced that with a light duty spring.

The glue around the track light bulbs was dried and cracking off, so i scraped that off and reglued them in place.  The rubber feet were also dried and cracked, so i replaced those with new rubber feet and leveled the deck.

I demagnitized the head, sanded the track change and foil sensing contacts, and I added velcro cable organizer straps to the audio and power cables.  I finished up by cleaning up the inside and outside of the deck, including the cables.

I tested it out many times, even playing a full 45 minute tape and everything worked and sounded great!  I couldn't find a manual for the deck, but I'm including a list of everything I performed on the unit.

I recommend running this unit through a receiver/amplifier for volume control.

Keep an eye out for other fully restored decks I'll be listing in future listings.

***Also, I refurbish tapes as well for low prices. Shoot me a message if you need tape servicing!
