Vintage Mary Hoyer Composition Doll with Large Wardrobe – Circa 1937-1946

Beautiful early Mary Hoyer composition doll with a wonderful collection of vintage doll clothing that was found and acquired together.

Doll is clearly marked in raised lettering on her upper back:

“THE MARY HOYER DOLL”

This is the earlier composition Mary Hoyer doll produced prior to the transition to hard plastic. She has a beautiful classic Mary Hoyer face with sleep eyes, painted lower lashes, full upper eyelashes, closed painted mouth, and reddish/blonde wig.

Her face displays exceptionally well for her age. I see no cracking/crazing to the face, and her upper eyelashes appear complete.

This is an approximately 80-year-old composition doll and does show age-related wear. There is paint/finish rubbing and loss around the neck/shoulder and upper arm joint areas, a crack near the upper leg/hip area, and a small chip/loss to the end of one finger. There are additional minor marks, rubs and normal signs of age/use throughout. Please examine all photographs closely as they are an important part of the condition description. In my opinion she is in excellent condition for her age.

She comes with the entire vintage wardrobe shown in the photographs, including multiple dresses, separates, striped outfits/pajamas, knitted garments and hat, and other pieces. The clothing was acquired together with the doll and appears appropriately sized for her. No Mary Hoyer labels were found on the clothing, so I cannot verify that the individual pieces were commercially manufactured by Mary Hoyer. Mary Hoyer sold patterns and kits specifically for owners to sew, knit and crochet clothing for their dolls, so some pieces may be period handmade clothing or pattern-made garments.

A wonderful survivor with a particularly lovely face and a substantial vintage wardrobe. Selling everything together as found.
