You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW1 Imperial German Army Heer M191Blechbüchse Gas Mask Canister! These were issued to all personnel throughout WW1.
With the development of poisonous gases used as offensive weapons throughout WW1, appropriate defensive gasmasks had to be developed. The early M1915 and 1917 gasmasks evolved into the M24, and eventually into the M30 and M38 versions. All German Army and Airforce personnel were issued a gas mask, carry canister and accessories, and were required to have them ready at all times.
Made of steel, this M1917 pattern gas mask canister is in NICE used condition! There is some wear, marks, scratches, and slight corrosion due to the age, but nothing that detracts. Traces of the original camouflage paint also remaucain! Would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
