The Official State Atlas of Kansas, originally compiled and published by L. H. Everts & Co. in 1887, is one of the important nineteenth-century cartographic records of Kansas communities, counties, land ownership, and settlement. This substantial 1982 reproduction by the Kansas Council of Genealogical Societies preserves the original atlas in black and white for researchers, genealogists, local historians, and collectors of Kansas maps.

Compiled from government surveys, county records, and personal investigations, the original atlas documents Kansas during a period of rapid settlement and development. County maps, town plans, geographic detail, and associated historical information provide a valuable window into where families lived, how communities were organized, and how the state developed during the late nineteenth century.

This large-format hardcover is especially useful for Kansas genealogy, county research, historic property study, and local-history reference.

Good condition. Large and substantial hardcover shows rubbing to the boards, sun fading along the spine, and fraying at the corners. The text block remains complete and secure, though it has slight looseness from the considerable size and weight of the volume. Several pages have creasing at the lower fore-edge corner, possibly from an earlier impact. Interior pages are otherwise clean and unmarked with only light handling wear.

Please note: the text block was bound upside down within the covers, so the volume opens and reads from the reverse orientation. This appears to be a binding/production error rather than later alteration and does not affect completeness or readability.
