EXQUISITE VINTAGE TURKISH 900 SILVER WEDDING MIRROR

Presenting an exquisite vintage Turkish wedding mirror, crafted in 900 silver and distinguished by an exceptional level of ornate repoussé and hand-chased decoration.

This substantial oval mirror features a beautifully scalloped outline and an extraordinary profusion of raised and finely worked floral and foliate motifs. The decoration radiates from an elaborate central floral boss, with each individual panel filled with intricate scrolling foliage, flowers, stippled ground work and finely incised detail. The workmanship is wonderfully tactile, with the relief catching the light beautifully across the entire surface.

The opposing side features an oval-shaped mirror within a simply decorated silver surround, creating a beautiful contrast to the lavishly worked silver decoration.

A woven hanging chain completes the piece, allowing it to be displayed as a striking decorative wall object.

Traditional Turkish wedding mirrors have long been associated with bridal gifting and the Turkish wedding tradition, making them particularly appealing to collectors of Turkish silver, Middle Eastern decorative arts and ceremonial objects.

This is an especially impressive example, both for its generous size and substantial 465 gram weight, with decoration that is considerably more elaborate than many examples encountered.
