An authentic vintage Ewenny Pottery footed miniature bowl from Wales, measuring 9cm x 11cm. Features a spectacular high-gloss mottled seafoam and volcanic black drip glaze over a red earthenware body. Signed base in immaculate condition.
The Design & Heritage
Hand-crafted at the legendary Ewenny Pottery workshop in Glamorgan, Wales, this original studio earthenware vessel is an exceptional example of traditional Celtic art pottery. Perfectly proportioned as a cabinet collectible at 9cm high by 11cm in diameter, this piece features an elegant, goblet-inspired form, boasting a wide, rounded miniature compote bowl that sits atop a beautifully flared pedestal foot.
The glaze work is outstanding. The potter has utilized a complex, multi-layered reactive glaze technique, allowing a frothy, crystalline seafoam-blue and grey slip to bleed organically into a deep, glossy obsidian ground. The glaze has pooled beautifully around the column of the pedestal and the inner well of the bowl, resulting in a striking, high-contrast finish. The raw, unglazed red clay base is deeply hand-signed "Ewenny Pottery" by the artisan.
