Artist biography:
Jack Ray (British, born 1946) is a post-war artist best known for atmospheric landscape and river scenes. He worked in oils, watercolours and mixed media, frequently using textured impasto techniques on board. Ray was an early member of the influential Inscape Group, which explored imaginative approaches to art and was connected with the later Society for Art of Imagination. His paintings regularly appear at British auctions and are admired for their strong panoramic compositions, rich texture and evocative use of colour.
