Description:
Offered for auction is a lovely early 20th-century German glazed porcelain pincushion half-doll, authentic Mold #4346. This classic Edwardian/Art Deco crossover figure depicts a graceful woman with molded blonde hair adorned with a vibrant magenta/purple painted headband. She is modeled with both hands brought delicately to her chest, resting against a scalloped white off-the-shoulder bodice. Her hair features lovely original gold/gilt paint flecks or accents applied during manufacturing.
The base features a hollow interior with molded sewing holes around the bottom edge, designed to be attached to a decorative fabric pincushion, dress whisk broom, or vanity boudoir accessory.
Condition Report:
Porcelain & Glaze: The front presentation of the doll is lovely, with smooth porcelain and bold, glossy glaze. Please note there is an antique vertical hairline crack on the lower reverse skirt base running upwards through the mold number (clearly visible in close-up photos). It remains stable but is a noted structural defect.
Paint & Facial Features: Her delicate facial paint is beautifully preserved with crisp blue eyes, defined brown eyebrows, and rosy cheeks. The original magenta headband paint is excellent, with typical light, historic flecking/wear to the gold accents in her hair.
Base & Edges: The unglazed bottom rim shows minor, expected shelf wear and aging discoloration. The molded sewing holes remain fully intact.
