This is a vintage Japanese wind sock (koinobori). It is hand seteciled in multi gold and colors and made of a durable cotton. . Used for Children's Day (May 5th) to represent strength and perseverance. See last picture (not included), This one measures about 17' long by 4' wide and has a mouth 18" in diameter. It has long fins on both sides .. It has the name of the previious owner as well as the date of Showa 45 (1971) on the inside of the mouth (see pictures 4 and 5 and others). It is overall in excellent condition and ready to fly!
