This is an unusual Ludwig. Banjo with 4 normal strings and one that is halfway down the neck.  This banjo is 39 inches long and 11 1/2 inches wide. There are only 3 strings, and I would say it has a nice sound even with only 3 strings.  There is some cracking around the back of the base. Where the brown wood meets the oak. I was told this banjo was probably from around the 20s or 30s. I don't know for sure. There are no real markings on it.
