The Passion of Ayn Rand by Barbara Branden is the first full-length biography of the influential novelist and philosopher, written by a former friend and associate who belonged to Rand’s inner circle for nearly two decades. Drawing upon Branden’s personal experience, recorded interviews with Rand, and conversations with more than 100 people who knew her, the book examines both Rand’s intellectual development and the complicated personal relationships surrounding the Objectivist movement.
This copy is signed and dated “May 1986” by Barbara Branden on the second free endpaper—the same year the biography was first published. The book was later adapted into the 1999 film starring Helen Mirren.
Very Good condition. Quarter buckram over paper-covered boards remains clean and sound, with a bumped upper front corner. Gilt spine titling is crisp and bright. The binding remains secure, and the pages are clean and appear carefully handled.
The dust jacket shows light rubbing and mild age-related patina but remains attractive and complete. A faint possible tobacco odor has been noted and is disclosed out of caution. Signed and dated by Barbara Branden on the second free endpaper.
