This
is a M3 you can use and enjoy as everything works as it should, there are no
warning lights and no issues. It’s not a “show queen” but it has not been
abused either, in fact it has service history from new and has always been well
maintained. Whilst it’s had a few owners overall, since 2007 there has just
been 4 and one of them owned the car for over 10 years.
The history file that comes with the car is full of information about it and includes its original books, sat nav disc, Tracker information, a copy, bar one of every MOT issued including its first one and a comprehensive invoice trail starting from 2010 when a previous owner acquired YF51 JFK (JFK from now on) from dealer Sam Jordan Cars. JFK will come with a fresh 12 month MOT when sold to the new owner.
I sold JFK for a very good friend of mine, Ian last year. He bought JFK in August 2021 the car having covered at this point 135,000 miles. During Ian’s ownership he had it maintained and inspected by his local BMW main dealer. BMW have replaced the injectors and overhauled the prop shaft. There are a number of invoices from BMW that total nearly £4000. The battery has been changed and the air con recharged.
The current owner, Neil bought JFK as I say through me in 2025 and he asked me to store it for him at my car storage facility as he would be away on business for a few months. His initial plan was to have JFK upgraded by a M3 specialist near to me and I took it to them for a quote. During the process they did a compression test on the engine and it cam back with each cylinder coming in the range of what they call a healthy engine reading of between 150psi to 160psi. Then somewhat out of the blue Neil found another M3 that took his fancy and bought that one as well. This one was sent overseas to where he is living and so JFK has become surplus to requirements as they say, hence this sale.
I have had the pleasure of driving JFK and it really performs well and as it should (I have owned a couple of E46 M3 myself over the years). The engine sounds great, is strong and pulls well, the gearbox is lovely to use and the brakes are excellent.
The picture give a fair feel for the cars kerb presence they are however perhaps a little flattering in places. The paintwork on the whole is good and shows well and it has a deep lustre to it but it’s not perfect, it does have some signs age and use. There are a few stone chips to the bonnet and to the front bumper area and the odd blemish to found here and there. Common to E46 M3’s is corrosion to the wheel arches. This one is ok with just the OSF wing having a little to it, the NSF and OSR having a very small bit of crazing and the NSR none at all. None of this is obvious or unsightly but may be worth attending to at some point in the future. I found one bit of corrosion in an odd place just on the top of the driver’s sill below the door only a relatively small blister but it’s there. Whilst there is an invoice for £675 from as recently as 2020 for refurbishing all the wheels, in places the lacquer on them has lifted. The interior overall is lovely. A few signs of wear but not much. There is a little 1 to 2 inches of stitching on the driver’s side bolster coming undone. The hood is in good condition and watertight. The electric mechanism works as it should.
In my opinion, this is a very worthy example to acquire. Its mechanically very strong, sorted and with a little bit of cosmetic improvement you would have a good usable investment as JFK is priced to sell.
Along with the aforementioned comprehensive history file JFK comes with a wind deflector, 2 keys and a current V5C logbook. The car is also HPI clear.
