Five-color ring resistance (metal film resistance) The meaning of each color ring is as follows:
- The first color ring: the first digit of the resistance value
- The second color ring: the second digit of the resistance value
- The third color ring: the third digit of the resistance value
- The fourth color circle: the power of 10 of the resistance multiplier (how many powers of 10)
- The fifth color circle: error indication (usually brown, the error is ±1%)

Tips
Resistor Power Rating:
- Refers to the maximum power that a resistor can consume in a DC or AC circuit for long-term continuous safe operation. Resistors act as pure energy dissipating elements in a circuit, converting electrical energy into heat, which is absorbed by the resistor and ultimately dissipated to the environment. For a resistor with a fixed resistance, its actual operating power depends on the voltage or current at both ends:
P=UI=U² / R=I²R - As a physical substance, a resistor can withstand a limited amount of heat. If it exceeds its limit, the resistance value will change greatly and even burn out. When the resistor is actually used, it is necessary to leave a certain power margin, which is recommended to be half of the rated power.
- The maximum working voltage is also specified for each type of resistor, that is, when the resistance value is high, even if the rated power is not reached, it cannot exceed the maximum working voltage.
