The lower-right mat carries a personalized handwritten inscription that appears to read:

“To my Best Friend Marvin Curland, Best Wishes, Ralph Neves.”

The autograph has not been professionally authenticated, and no certificate of authenticity is included.

The display measures approximately 20 inches wide by 17 inches high, including the vintage wood frame. The reverse retains a label from The Brown Shop, 190 East Colorado Street, Pasadena, California, which offered picture framing. The lower frame rail also appears to carry an old handwritten Curland inventory or identification notation.

The framed display shows extensive age-related wear. The mat is heavily toned and has a pronounced moisture stain along the lower portion. The frame has scratches, finish loss and edge wear. The rear paper covering is brittle, torn, punctured and repaired with old tape. The existing hanging wire should be inspected or replaced before hanging. Ralph Neves later entered racing’s Hall of Fame and is documented as Solidarity’s jockey during the horse’s important 1949 campaign.
