Unusual vintage adjustable metal specialty tool with repeated W-in-diamond markings and an apparent PAT. JUNE 8 15 marking.

The exact manufacturer and original intended function of this tool are currently unverified.

The tool was previously believed to be associated with saw filing/sharpening. Additional information subsequently received suggests that identification may be incorrect and that the tool may instead have been designed for an automotive or mechanical application. Because neither identification has yet been independently verified, the tool is being offered using only its directly observable features rather than assigning it a specific historical function.

Observed features include:

• Repeated W-in-diamond trademarks/logos
• Apparent PAT. JUNE 8 15 marking
• All-metal construction
• Opposing hooked/jaw-like components
• Large threaded adjustment screw
• Sliding metal T-handle with rounded ends
• Adjustable/sliding mechanical construction
• Approximately 6 inches overall based on measurement photograph

Mechanical check:
The T-handle and threaded adjustment mechanism were manually operated. The screw turns freely and moves smoothly without notable resistance. The mechanism is not seized.

The tool has not been tested under working load or performing its original intended function, which remains under research.

The metal surfaces show substantial age and use, including oxidation/rust, patina, discoloration, finish loss, scratches, and general surface wear. No aggressive rust removal or restoration has been performed.

The repeated W-in-diamond markings and patent date marking may provide useful clues for further identification. The W-in-diamond mark is reported strictly as an observed trademark/logo; no manufacturer attribution is being made from the mark alone.

An interesting unidentified vintage specialty tool for collectors and researchers of antique mechanical, automotive, industrial, and occupational tools.
