A very attractive antique pierced bone brisé fan, dating to the late Victorian/Edwardian period, approximately c.1890–1910.

The fan comprises numerous finely pierced bone sticks with elaborate openwork decoration, beautifully hand painted with bands of pink and orange flowers, green foliage and blue detailing.

A blue silk ribbon is threaded through the upper section of the sticks, while the outer guard sticks have further intricate pierced decoration.

The fan measures approximately:
19 cm / 7½ inches long when closed
29–30 cm / 11½–12 inches wide when opened

In genuine antique condition with expected age-related wear, discolouration and some rubbing to the painted decoration.

There is damage and loss to one of the outer pierced guard sticks, clearly visible in the photographs, together with some smaller imperfections to the delicate pierced work.

Despite this, the fan remains extremely decorative, opens well and retains a particularly attractive amount of its original hand-painted decoration and blue ribbon.

Please examine all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description and show the condition in detail.
